Behaviour consultations

Aneta – owner of Ankercanis.

I own dogs all my life and always trained them myself. I owned many different breeds throughout my life, starting with little Chihuahua mixes, Little terriers, Dachshund, Afghan Hound, Border collie etc. I helped many people train their dogs, but in no means I know everything. I made many mistakes in my life and I am sure I will make many more. Each dog teaches me something different and my training methods changed in time.

I often got asked questions – are two dogs the same? My answer is – No. Every dog is an individual and many things is shaping the way they are, often before they are even born.

Are two dogs the same breed the same? The answer is still – No. I own Belgian Malinois since 2016. I breed since 2018. and I haven’t met two dogs that are the same. They have very similar needs but are not the same.

The dog I purchased last taught me a lot. She was not socialised as a pup, extremely reactive and I believe sold to me because I had experience. My training methods did not work, I was going nowhere. And I wanted to give up. But I was still pushing forward. This is why I decided to learn more and signed myself for Level 4 Dog Behaviourist course. I have 3 units to finish and hope to do it by end of Summer. After completion I will be offering my services as fully qualified Dog behaviourist and a Trainer. I still do the work with the owners now (because we train the owners and help the dogs). The certificate will be published here.
